Professional Japanese Human Translation - How to get the quality translation you’re looking for

Translation comes in many flavors, which to the uninitiated can be downright confusing.

Do you go with Human Translation Service, Computer Translation, Post Editing Machine Translation (PEMT), Translation Crowdsourcing, or Translation Cloud? I’m sure you get the picture! Continue reading this article and find out why carbon-based translation services may be the best option for your Japanese translation project.

What defines human translation service?

As implied, it’s translation service provided by professional human translators working for a translation agency, company, firm etc., or who work for themselves freelance. Regardless of how they deliver their services, professional Japanese translators are:

  • Bilingual (i.e. Fluent in a learnt language such as Japanese they translate from into their native English language. It is also worth noting that multilingual translators are not all they’re cut out to be – “A Jack of all trades and master none”.)
  • University educated (preferable; but not an absolute requirement as some excellent translators are self-schooled)
  • Trained or self-schooled in the field of translation
  • Knowledgeable in the most common translation tools
  • Experts and experienced in their preferred subject matter (business, finance, marketing etc.)

It is also worth keeping in mind that being bilingual in-and-of-itself does not make a person a translator, let alone a professional translator (i.e. speaking & translating are not one and the same thing, not even close!).

More importantly, professional translators only translate into their mother tongue (never the other way around). The importance of this can not be emphasized enough!

These are the many reasons why translation services by professional Japanese human translators produce the highest quality Japanese translation services possible.

(With the other types of translation, the devil is in the details! For example, with Translation Clouds you never know if the vendor has introduced poor quality machine translation into the equation to cut costs and boost profits…)
